Linda/Ohio Posted November 20, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 20, 2005 Here is a question for you. Since RCCL has published the newer tipping guidelines it says $3.50 per person per day in a cabin and $5.75 per person per day in a suite. What is the proper amount for a JS? It is a bit bigger than a regular cabin--but certainly not the size or amenities of a grande or owners suite. Also if you ask RCCL you don't get the perks of a real suite-so what is the proper amount to tip? What are your thoughts?
Merion_Mom Posted November 20, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 20, 2005 I haven't sailed in a JS yet, Linda, but I am an avid reader of these boards (ok, ok, so I'm addicted :D), and you do NOT tip "suite" level in a JS...you tip the regular $3.50 per day per person. (the proof is that people who have had RC automatically charge them for the tips had the $3.50 charged when in a JS) Carol
FJTinSC Posted November 20, 2005 #3 Share Posted November 20, 2005 I agree, we just booked another JS for Navigator next year, and had the tips auto added, and the amount was the same as for regular rooms!
SheltieLady Posted November 20, 2005 #4 Share Posted November 20, 2005 I'm in a JS on the Jewel sailing January 2007, when we booked I had the tip automatic added and it was the $3.50 I wonder that too if it would be higher it's not. For my 8 night cruise it was a total of $78.00 per person for tips. Chrissy
aka_sally Posted November 20, 2005 #5 Share Posted November 20, 2005 We were in a JS on Rhapsody in January and assumed we'd be charged for the higher "suite" tip... when we got statement ($3.50 a day) we called Purser's office to confirm and were told that only the larger suites (Grand, Owners, Royal, Family) were charged at the higher rate. Really, the JS, even though it's called a "suite" is just a slightly larger cabin with a tub/shower instead of just shower. Happy sailing!
