djs22 Posted April 14, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2017 Hi, does anyone know if you can just carry on your luggage? I am taking a rather fragile costume with me and would prefer to carry it on myself. Thanks!
focus60 Posted April 14, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 14, 2017 You could get a hard shell cabin size bag if the garment would fold down small enough to fit in it.
john watson Posted April 14, 2017 #3 Share Posted April 14, 2017 ex-Southampton cruises you can carry on stuff but it has to go through the airport style conveyor belt scanner machine. So I suggest you put as much as you can through the hole in the wall in suitcases and only carry on the fragile or delicate clothes/items packed in protective containers or coverings. You can look after it better if you carry on just the relevant stuff in my opinion. Regards John
djs22 Posted April 14, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted April 14, 2017 Thanks. It is quite a large costume and takes up a whole large case to itself. do you know how big the scanners are?
GlasgowGuy Posted April 14, 2017 #5 Share Posted April 14, 2017 The scanners can accommodate a medium sized suitcase. I take a Kilter carry case onboard which is pretty large and I've never had an issue. Double bag your costume in dry cleaner sleeves, you can lay your costume flat on the conveyer belt yourself so you should have no problems. davecttr Posted April 14, 2017 #6 Share Posted April 14, 2017 I have seen several wedding dresses etc carried on in protective sleeves at Southampton.
soobs Posted April 15, 2017 #7 Share Posted April 15, 2017 On our last Caribbean trip on Azura while waiting to check in I saw a couple with a very large bag which I guessed was a wedding dress my guess was confirmed when I saw the lady in the contents of the bag a rather large meringue type wedding dress (she did look very nice) not sure how she transported can only assume on the plane - maybe she paid more for it or got special treatment because she was getting married worth checking with the airline or P & O.
