OK, I read something about Carnival allowing smoking somewhere on the ship and it is affecting certain balcony cabins or something? Can anyone shed some light on this? I am about to book and need to know what is going on! Thanks!!

Depending on which ship you are booking, there are different designated smoking areas. Some of the outdoor areas are on upper decks, where the smoke could drift to balconies due to the breeze. Check on Carnivals FAQ page for the smoking rules for the specific ship you are looking at.

We were on the Glory a few years back..we had a balcony very close to the smoking section, you could forsure smell the smoke, my husband liked it cos he did sneak a few smokes on our balcony and no one noticed, so did our neighbours on both sides. Just something to consider, don't book starboard at all if ciggie smell bothers you at all.
