Rare jean87510 Posted May 1, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2017 To anyone who is going to Tenerife to see volcan teide or to the maspalomas dunes, rent a car. Very easy to get to. Make sure you can drive stick or prebook automatic. Do NOT prepurchase cable car tickets. If it is closed, you will not get reimbursed. Beautiful areas and make your way there. Rare nellydean Posted May 20, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 20, 2017 I should add maspalomas dunes are in gran canaria. Sent from my SM-G920P using Forums mobile app They are indeed - glad you added that! We rented a car in Las Palmas (cicar) right near our cruise port, and we drove down for a quick look at the edge of Maspalomas but, for us, by far, the highlight was driving straight through the centre of the island, south to north. The scenery is spectacular, with some nice refreshment stops along the way. It was a long drive, and we gave up before we got to Teror (we have just visited there on a subsequent cruise, wonderful), but after we dropped off the car there was still time to get a taxi into Las Palmas city centre for a wander round and a couple of drinks. On this latest cruise excursion to Teror, we did a tour to a banana plantation, which was interesting, plus, you get to see a different area to the one we saw originally. Next time we visit, we'll probably hire a car again.

Rare John Bull Posted May 21, 2017 #5 Share Posted May 21, 2017 They are indeed - glad you added that! We rented a car in Las Palmas (cicar) ...................................... We rented from Cicar for the day on several of the Canary Islands. The biggest, best-known & most-respected rental agency on the islands. Good, clean, low-mileage cars, inexpensive, excellent service, no rip-off add-ons. JB :)
