Liberty...mini review

Recommended Posts

Just off yesterday and thought I would do a short review of our 46th wedding anniversary trip.

Embarkation....we parked in the port garage that is located next to the ship. The cost was 80.00. Our check in time was 11am and we were there shortly before that along with tons and tons of others. Am serious, the waiting room in Terminal 5 is super large with plenty of seats and too many people. We stood like several others for a while til our zone was called about by noon and then we were on.

Debarkation...they started around 7:15am calling decks, we left around 30mins later and we carried off our own luggage. It was overall easy except it was a long distance to walk from the point you get off the ship to customs. Going through customs was fast because there were at least 5 agents available and we waited less than a couple mins for our turn.

Our cabin....ocean view on deck one mid area. Great cabin with plenty of room. Best part of it was that we could fully control the room temperature. On our previous Pride cruise this past January we could not and we froze the entire 7 day cruise. Our cabin steward was Mathew and we did not see him or meet him til Tuesday night!! He was never around. After introducing ourselves and what cabin we were in, his response was "oh, I didn't know you were mine". We communicated thru a note that I left for him on Sunday night before dinner that he did not acknowledge or fill my request till Tuesday night. My request was fresh ice and towels in the evenings. Minor thing and did not let it affect our cruise.

Meals....on Sunday evening we went to our assigned early dining , Golden Dragon dining room. That was our only dining room experience and the food was okay as well as our table servers. We did have a 2 seat table on the 2nd floor as we hoped to. Monday and Tuesday evenings were elegant dress nights which I thought was strange for 4 day cruise. We ate once at the Seafood Shack and was not overly impressed with the clam chowder which was bland and the lobster had little taste. It was on a toasted hoagie style roll that was pretty good and it was served with hot (temperature wise) french fries and they were delicious. For me, the best part of the meal. Most of our meals we had at the buffet and always were able to find something to satisfy our hunger. For breakfast...the usual items.. To name a few things that were really good at dinner were the carved ham, roast beef, chicken marsala and veal parm. They also had turkey and lamb on the carving board. They did not have a lot of dessert choices and this is the first time that I saw no jello anytime. We did try the pizza late one night and it was good. Also had some fresh hot popcorn Tuesday night. This time did not try Guy's but did have great chicken tacos one day.

Activities....plenty to do if you wanted to participate or watch.

Entertainment...2 playlist shows. Saw Flick and thought it was good. Was not interested seeing the second one, Rock or something similar to that title. Did listen to a group that played a variety of music styles near the casino area and they were very good.

Casino....average size, not too many old slots, craps, a few tables...mostly black jack. Never saw any big payoffs on the slots. Never saw it crowded either.

Ports....in Nassau we shared a taxi. They to Cable Beach and us just beyond it to the new resort, Baha Mar. It was gorgeous!!! Very high end and huge. Beautiful grounds, very nice beach and everything so bright and airy. The employees were all dressed in elegant white pantsuits to match the elegant atmosphere. They had multiple casinos, I believe a total of nine, that meshed into one unbelievably large area. Over a thousand slot machines and one hundred fifteen table games. The only negative thing...there was no one there besides us and 3 other cruisers doing the same as we, checking the resort out. Know it just recently had a soft opening and hope after all the years of problems that it has had to get where it is today that somehow it will catch on and be successful. Also has a golf course across the street from the resort that is really well done and in excellent condition. Once you have seen it, Atlantis is disappointing. Definitely worth taking the 15-20min taxi ride to see. In Freeport...nothing changed since our last time there in May of last year.

Summary...got away, r&r'd and ready to go again but different itinerary and different ship!
