drew sailbum Posted May 7, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 7, 2017 I put notes in the Roll Call threads, but in case people do not see those threads I'll put my usual Election Day notice here as well. Carnival Paradise and Liberty of the Seas have a stop scheduled in Grand Cayman on Wednesday May 24, 2017. Their visits to the Cayman Islands are on our General Election date. In accordance with Cayman law there will be no sale of beer, wine, or intoxicating liquor during the hours the election polls are open (7am to 7pm). This encompasses the entirety of their scheduled time in port. Merchants may not sell or give away alcohol during this time. This includes duty free purchases intended to later distribution and consumption. This includes sales to tourists or other persons not eligible to vote in Cayman. Sorry about that folks. drew sailbum Posted May 31, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted May 31, 2017 Election is over. One other nice feature is that all the election signs for the various candidates was removed the day before the election in accordance with local law. Cayman has a parliamentary system of governance. It seems, for now, that a coalition government is in place as no single party has a majority in the Legislative Assembly. The way things are shaping up might mean a slightly greater chance that some action may be taken to develop a cruise ship pier during the coming 4 year administration. Time will tell. Island time, that is.
SOMEBEECH Posted June 3, 2017 #5 Share Posted June 3, 2017 I love that! We should do that in the U.S. Lot of states are like that. I would rather be drunk when I voted. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
