tabby1964 Posted May 19, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 19, 2017 Well against the advice that I have read on the boards, I jumped at my first "upsell" offer on the maasdam for our June sailing of Boston to Montreal. We were booked OV lower promenade and took the upsell to veranda a173. This is only my second cruise ever and the first one with just my husband and I. This is so much more expensive than what I paid for a family of five on RC to the Bahamas. I guess smaller ships and certain itineraries do cost more as not everyone sails to PEI. Weather permitting...i think a balcony would be ideal for our trip. Hubby does not know about our upgrade yet as I want to surprise him for our 29th anniversary. Has anyone every tried to request two lounge chairs for their balcony? It would nice if we both had one but new to Holland America and don't know if that is an option. cruise_bunnies Posted May 19, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 19, 2017 We did on one cruise (17 days to the Canary Islands). We asked our room stewards if it was possible to have a second lounger, as the ship was only half full or so. A few days later a knock came at night and there they were with another lounger! They managed to abscond with one from the pool area after talking to their manager; we thought we'd get one from one of the unsold balconies. So I'd go ahead and ask, it's pretty nice to have two and there is enough space for it.
DeeniEncinitas Posted May 19, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 19, 2017 Yes! Absolutely. On The Eurodam this past September we requested nicely and the lounge fairy was there that afternoon with an extra one! We enjoyed it on the Med in our SS suite! On The Oosterdam same thing with Hawaii. Now we are booked on The Maasdam for 2/25/18 SS 176 and I called special services which told me ask as you have in the past and hopefully your wonderful stewards will be able to make it happen especially on your month cruise! Good choice on your cabin too! Happy Sailings! Denise:)
