Tiffany_Zerbe Posted June 15, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2017 Are hair straighteners and curling irons allowed??
jdemps Posted June 15, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 15, 2017 I believe they are - have never had one taken from me in 5 years. They do need to be in good condition with ni frayed cords or anything like that.
Rare pirate4me2 Posted June 15, 2017 #3 Share Posted June 15, 2017 I have brought both on my previous 4 or 5 cruises with no problems.
beachbum6264 Posted June 15, 2017 #4 Share Posted June 15, 2017 I've taken both on all 18 cruises and never had a problem. I guess they know what they're up against if they take those away! LOL!
springs741 Posted June 15, 2017 #5 Share Posted June 15, 2017 From Carnivals FAQ: Personal grooming devices such as hair dryers, flat irons, curling irons and shavers are allowed on board when used with proper caution. However, if such devices are determined to pose a hazard, they will be removed and returned the last day of the cruise prior to debark. Always a good idea to go to the source. Telling the screener that "they said on Cruise Critic I could take it" is not going to have the same effect as, "it is clearly stated on Carnival's web site that it is allowed" I take a paper copy of that page and several others that pertain to my sailing when I embark. (I don't trust the phone to have service when I need it)

Better to give the screener a paper copy than handover my phone for them to read. Sent from my SGH-M919 using Forums mobile app
Rare bluejay555 Posted June 15, 2017 #7 Share Posted June 15, 2017 Good idea to take a copy. I always take a straightener but am very careful with unplugging it when finished, because if it was confiscated, my hair would be a frizzy mess the rest of the cruise! :D
5cruizin Posted June 15, 2017 #8 Share Posted June 15, 2017 We just got home today and my daughter took her straightener. No issues
snookcruiser Posted June 16, 2017 #9 Share Posted June 16, 2017 I always take a curling iron. I never leave it plugged in. I use it, unplug, and put it in a special holder. Never had a problem. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
