Brief Ecstasy Review

This makes me even more excited about my cruise on Ecstasy next week. Thanks for the feedback. We started on the big ships (Allure) on RCL and slowly moved to the smaller ships (Majesty) and really preferred the smaller ships. This will be my first time on CCL and I'm STARTING with the smaller ship. Have always read mixed reviews (for all lines and ships) but this one is very balanced!! Thanks again for your review. I'll be at the slots!

We went in October, after doing some Royal sailings on bigger ships (Freedom). My inlaws spent a lot of time in the casino and my husband joined them some, they really liked it. The Ecstasy didn't have as much to do as the bigger ships but we were okay with that, we just wanted to relax and read anyway. If you like the smaller ship atmosphere you'll probably like Ecstasy!

Did you need beach shoes on princess cay?

I read some where on CC it was a good ideal but looking at the pics it looks like a straight walk out to the beach. We board Jan 12 th and its the second stop. Ill post a update for you when we get back...

If it is like Halfmoon Cay, I doubt it. I went 15 years ago to Princess Cay and dont believe I wore shoes. I hate them.  I did have to have them for Labadee.

I just got off the Ecstacy and enjoyed it. Never crowded at buffet or tender, shows, etc. Food was mostly good/great.  Freeport/Nassau sucked as always.  Got my share of ships on sticks. Read plenty. Ate plenty. Slept not quite plenty. Charleston was an absolute breeze both directions.  Would certainly do again, especially if could time it when it wasnt going to those two ports.

My main like was the service provided to my gluten free family member.  Every night while waiting on dessert, they would bring tomorrow's menu to pick. They made a GF version of whatever was picked.  The Apple Pie was so good, she ordered it every night thereafter.

My main dislike was the room itself. Had an adjoining room cabin, and the double bed was placed so the door handle was in the middle of the headboard area.  We probably should have just turned the bed itself, but seemed a pain to worry over.  Also, pull-down bed was left down the whole cruise, which made moving around inconvenient.  If we left the beds as twins, neither of those would be problems. With a double bed configuration, it made it frustrating at best.

Other notes. Elegant nights were the first two days, due to NYE being day one.  Nighttime shows were at 730 (I dont recall that being the case previously) which meant we missed it most nights due to slow service in DR. I found it odd that there is no specialty dining onboard. It seemed that there are several bars/lounges that were redundant. We dont drink, so never went  by later at night. But, it looked like a lot of wasted space during the day. Never had trouble finding deck chairs.

I would say 100% yes for water shoes. It isn’t for the walk to the beach from the tender, or for walking to eat, it is for in the water. That is the rockiest we have ever experienced at any beach. It isn’t that it is not enjoyable, it is beautiful, but im the water is VERY ROCKY. Looking at the little middle “island” on the beach, to the left of the sand bar isn’t as bad, but to the right is very rocky. You will appreciate the water shoes, trust me. ;-)
