Importing wine from Italy/Greece (ordering while on a cruise)

Going on a cruise this fall and look to import some local wines (probably in the realm of cases). Already checked by local state laws and I am ok as well as understand will need to pay duty/excise tax on it. Question is if anyone has had experience doing this and if so are there things to watch out for, etc?

Because you will be relying upon the seller to ship - while complying with all necessary requirements - you want to be very sure about your supplier's honesty and competence.

 

Are you sufficiently confident about your vetting skills?

 

If it were me , I would deal "locally" - going to a known player, like Sherry Lehman in New York and ask them to order the cases for me from suppliers they would know.
