JimmyJ Posted November 29, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 29, 2005 Greetings fellow Cruise Critics - This is being written in the Internet Cafe aboard the Grand Princess just about to leave Belieze. It's been a wonderful trip and our gathering of the Cruise Critic members on last Sunday was wonderful with over 35 people meeting at the aft pool. We meet again for a more formal get-to-know-one-another on Friday. We had a bumpy ride out of Galveston, but things surely have calmed down and lots of activities and hot weather. Costa Maya and Belieze are hmmm, ports that I would have rather not have visited... not much to do unless you're into archeological history and Myan culture and of course there are the usual TT's (tourist traps) - souveniers! The food is wonderful as usual and lots of onboard activities. Full ship. For those of you taking the Grand this winter... you'll have a fun time. If you have any questions, just add them to this thread and I'll check back and see if I can answer them for you. Oops.. time to go.. the bars are now open :) JimmyJ
chrysalis Posted November 29, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 29, 2005 good to hear you are enjoying the Grand...and I can assure you, other than the fact that we are into Election mode here, the weather here is "the same ole stuff" (former Streetsville/Erin Mills folks here!) ppeckham Posted November 29, 2005 #4 Share Posted November 29, 2005 I'll be sailing the Grand in March. We have a few posting to the roll call at this point. More are joining as we approach our date. The question of a meet and greet has come up on our thread. Any suggestions for a location for the members of the roll call to meet? What's the best time? We've talked briefly about meeting just after the muster drill and possibly sometime the next day. Enjoy the rest of your week. I'm not surprised the seas were a bit rough on Saturday. I was returning from near Victoria, southwest of Galveston, on Saturday. By 10 a.m. they had 1.5 inches of rain. Wish we had had that closer to Fort Worth! houstoncruisers2001 Posted November 29, 2005 #7 Share Posted November 29, 2005 what kind of drink prices are we talking? For a beer? Margarita? Do they still have a bucket of Dos Equis deal? I've been cruising before so I know a drink practically costs an arm & a leg. Just curious how much they've jacked the prices since last year. Thanks alot for your help. We embark on the GP this saturday.
Princess Bride Posted November 29, 2005 #8 Share Posted November 29, 2005 JimmyJ Can you track down the Cruise Director, or someone else in charge, and find out why they changed formal nights to Sunday night and Tuesday night???? (In April it was Sunday night/Thursday night) Also, is that change going to be in effect next week also? Dec 3 - Dec 10 Thanks for your help!!! candydane Posted November 30, 2005 #9 Share Posted November 30, 2005 Could you check if they will sell a bottle of Wild Turkey for use in a stateroom during the cruise? It wasn't on the liquor "menu" but hopefully they will. Wild Turkey is the only thing my brother-in-law likes to drink. Thanks.
