Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday usually celebrated in private, during which families visit their family members' graves at the cemetery, bringing food for a picnic with all the family members. Merida may be the closest city that might have some sort of public celebration.
Rare crewsweeper Posted July 13, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 13, 2017 Costa Maya is the port, and the "regional" real estate name for the coast line. Nuevo Mahahual is the little town just outside, mostly shops etc.. Mahahual, proper, is a small fishing village with hotels and beach clubs for tourists. Really no population to support any "public" celebration. Very small church there. I know at one time it was served by a priest from Xcalak/ Chemutal. And as Vida, opined, such celebrations are usually family oriented. Merdia, however, is very far away and would not be worth a long trip to see a short ceremony if they have one.
