Post Miami Cruise Arrival Flights

Hi Brains trust! I've never cruised from Miami before, so was hoping for some help on post Cruise flight timing. My cruise docks at 7am - what is a realistic flight departure time from MIA? Also, is a FLL flight departure after cruising into Miami an option, and if so how much time do I need to add to get to FLL?

(Thanks in advance)

I'd feel comfortable with a MIA flight at 11. From Ft. L plan on noon.

There's lots of time for delays in there, especially if you are off the ship by 8. If you worry a lot, plan accordingly.

If you are flying International, you need additional time for security and custom clearance at the airport.

Yes, fully aware of this - am only trying to get to Orlando.

I recommend a flight out of Miami at around Noon.

If you find one and it is around 11:30 AM that would be fine too.

For Fort Lauderdale I would go with Noon or later.

One thing I am now warning people. If you don't have TSA Pre Appr with the new changes being implemented requiring that electronics larger then smart phones being taken out of your carry on (including larger cameras) the lines could be longer at the security check points.

I don't know your entire travel plan but if you are going to Orlando and staying for a few days, and you have several in your group I might suggest looking into renting a car instead of flying. It's about a 3.5 hour drive but it might be a lot cheaper if you have more than 2 people. You won't have to worry about flight times in case there is a delay. Again it may not work for you but it's something to consider if it fits in your plans. Enjoy your trip.

100 percent agree. Why go thru all the stress and aggravation of an airport, when for a lot less money and probably the same amount of time, you can take a leisurely ride.
