So basically you have to wait for an invitations before you can even bid

I am seeing an ad to upgrade right away when I log in to ncl.com. Check your NCL mail once you log in - the little heart in the upper right corner is your messages. That's where I saw my offers. I made a bid on a balcony and on a mini suite - the two options available to me as I am booked in an Oceanview cabin. My offers are still "pending" although my cruise to Bermuda leaves soon - August 25. Others on my cruise have already received their upgrades, and one for certain bid the very same amount I did on a mini suite and got it. I am hopeful, but either way I'll be content with whatever I get or do not get. People booked through certain travel agents/cruise websites are exempt from the bidding process. Good luck!
