tring Posted August 26, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 26, 2017 Just making some last checks for our MSC cruise. Can we get a late breakfast on Preziosa and, if so, how late? I realise this may be a silly question as, being a big ship they may have a self service open throughout the day, but on the very rare occasion we have been on ships half this size, we have always been able to have freedom dining (which is not available on MSC), so we are a bit concerned about possible restrictions for other meals. We usually travel on ships of about 30,000 ton with restricted mealtimes, so are a bit unsure what to expect. We have never been on a ship anything like this size, so please excuse any stupidity if that is how I sound.. Also we have requested late sitting for dinner. If this is a very late timing, can we still have our cabin made up after we have been showered (if that is just before our mealtime), or will the cabin steward(ess) be likely to go in early to make our room up if we are not round earlier? We have had that happen on other ships.
Rare CruiseIreland Posted August 27, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 27, 2017 Breakfast in the buffet stops at 11.00. They start removing breakfast items from 10.45 onwards. At 11.00 they start setting up for lunch. The buffet is open 20 hours. Regarding cleaning your room, you can control this using the red/green card in your keycard slot. Great that sounds very civilised - thank for the information. Never know we may take to using big ships for some cruises if you get that sort of service, just a shame they don't call at the sort of ports we like to go to though. Rare CruiseIreland Posted August 29, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 29, 2017 We really like the Fantasia class of ships we have sailed on, Preziosa, Divina, Splendida and Fantasia itself. Big enough but not too big. Ports of call are, of course, what attracts us to a cruise. Hope you enjoy Preziosa. Ken.

tring Posted September 7, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted September 7, 2017 I can say that when we were on board Preziosa dining times were 6pm and 8.30pm on the daily sheet, though on our first day's embarkation leaflet it said 5.45pm and 8.15pm. I think the earlier time mentoined was to make sure we found the restaurant by the right time, which was not easy to do as you could not get through from both ends of the ship unless you went upstairs and down again. It is true Breakfast finishes at 11pm, though. We had wrongly assumed we would be able to get something to eat, if only croissants and a few other bits after that, but in fact we went to the self service at 11.15am one morning to find all serveries had closed at 11am and were not due to re open until 12 midday. The restaurant manger let a couple of serveries open at about 11.50 to let us have something to eat though. Not what we expected on a big ship, but MSC do say the self service is open for 20 hours - we wrongly assumed that the 4 hours closure would be in the early hours, so our fault.
