I hope you found what you are looking for by now. If not, I can say that there is a reason why there is an age cutoff for this excursion. My 7 year old daughter had a pretty difficult time but did it. One of the other dads in the group said he was glad that he left his daughter (about the same age) on the ship. If you are going with others it really holds up the group.

a good example of why DRF is best done on your own

 

the park has no minimum age, this limit is imposed by the cruise line. I've seen folks with infants. I'm not recommending this, but I've seen it.

 

and there is no need to go in the typical cruise excursion big group holding hands

 

go on your own and get your own guide. they work for tips only .. there is no 'charge' for a guide or requirement to even use one . . . climb at your own pace ....
