Epic or Escape: Which is the better ship/ cruise?

Short answer: Escape, no question.

 

Long answer: Sailed on both. Escape, no question.

Sailed on both, have future bookings on both. That said, I'd personally prefer the Escape over the Epic. The previously mentioned restaurants (especially Food Republic) make a big difference to us because we are foodies. There is plenty to do on both but the ropes course was a lot of fun on the Escape. The itinerary makes the difference to us - I wouldn't hesitate to book either again.
