beverage package charge question

When you pre purchase your beverage package through the cruise planner, do they automatically charge your credit card or wait til closer to your cruise? My sailing is in March 2018 and I plan on using my RC Visa over the next few months to rack up onboard credit and would like to use that credit towards my beverage package. Or should I wait til closer to the cruise to purchase it?

If you don't have on board credit to cover the purchase, then they will charge the credit card immediately.

Anything purchased through the cruise planner is paid for immediately, whether it's OBC, credit card, or a combo of both.
