mkeditor Posted September 24, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 24, 2017 (edited) I'm looking forward to my crossing on the QM2. I've been doing my research on various aspects of the ship. One that is less than amazing are the bars. The art direction looks lovely but the bar list I was able to see looks fairly pedestrian much like a hotel bar. I had hoped that at least one had mixologists creating craft cocktails. Do all the bars have the same stock? Are they all created equal or is there one that reaches higher than Hilton? Lanky Lad Posted September 24, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 24, 2017 The Commodore Club is the martini bar on board. They have a selection not available in the other bars. There will more then likely be a mixology class on when you are on board, for a fee of course.
mkeditor Posted September 26, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted September 26, 2017 That's helpful. Thank you. I downloaded the cocktail menu. It's decent. My hope is there are better offerings not listed.
Moscowlad Posted September 26, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 26, 2017 Also there are some drinks which they staff know and can charge, they are in the computer, but are not on the menu. E.g. long Island Iced Tea.
mkeditor Posted November 30, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted November 30, 2017 Cocktails on the QM2 were very disappointing. They're about like average USA hotel bar quality. They only have Cinzano vermouth...which is cheapest on the planet. Mixing good booze with cheap mixers is lame. Some of the bartenders only knew how to make drinks listed in the menu although a few had better experience. To be fair, they were all kind and courteous. There's better cocktails on the original QM in Long Beach...which is sad. The QM2 on the other hand is amazing.
alc13 Posted November 30, 2017 #6 Share Posted November 30, 2017 About the vermouth - does that mean the classic martinis are all made with Cinzano?
mkeditor Posted November 30, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted November 30, 2017 I was told Cunard has a contract with Cinzano and can't use any other vermouth. That's a bad deal for passengers. If I had known, I would have brought a bottle of Carpano Antica or Cocchi Torino on board.
