WashyWashyHappyHappy95 Posted September 25, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 25, 2017 I finally pulled the trigger on one of these on the Breakaway next month, and I'm very excited. Should I be?
OrlandoSingleCruiser Posted September 25, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 25, 2017 I stayed in one on the Getaway last year. Here's 3 things I have to point out. 1 good and 2 not so good. Good: The balcony is massive. We had 2 loungers and a table. It was great being able to lay out by our balcony. Bad: The first thing is that depending on the location of your mini-suite you can have the large theater on the other side of the hallway. The last 3-4 room towards the front are the only ones that you didn't hear too much. As far as the others...I remember walking down the hallway to our room and it felt like there was a concert in the hallway so you're going to get some noise from that. The second thing is that the rooms right above you are the extended balcony rooms so the rooms are a bit shorter then yours and as a result their extended balcony (which is smaller then yours) is right above where you sleep so in the morning all we heard is the people on top of us moving their table and chairs etc...VERY loud and annoying. phillyguy31 Posted September 25, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 25, 2017 Had an M6 on the Getaway 2 years back, it was next to or 1 away from the angled one so we were really far back and it was always dead quiet never a problem with noise from the theatre. ja2nowak Posted September 25, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 25, 2017 I didn't have a M6 but did have a B6 on the Getaway. The larger balcony is nice other than everyone above you can look down on part of your balcony. I'd get one again.

We had room 8124 on the Breakaway for 2 weeks and never heard a thing[theater noise].The way our room was configured our bed was closer to the hallway so we didn't get the balcony noise. As someone else mentioned the hull goes straight up so a balcony couldn't have been directly above you. WashyWashyHappyHappy95 Posted September 25, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted September 25, 2017 I read somewhere that someone had complaints about cig butts and other trash landing on the balcony from other balconies above, but I guess I just have to hope for less human garbage on this sailing. Looks like you do have the standard overhang amount for some privacy, and you're only in full view if you're right up on the bannister. Well if someone above me wants to stare at a fat pasty 34 year old man laying on a lounge chair, be my freakin' guest. Is the motion any more noticeable being that far forward? I'm psyched about the easy waterfront access. Heck since I've got my own place to lay out, and I'll mostly be dining on deck 6 and 8, I may not even make it topside the whole cruise. PelicanBill Posted September 25, 2017 #8 Share Posted September 25, 2017 Not so sure about this, the outside doors are all lined up in the same place looking at this picture. I agree. I have an M6 booked for December. I think the noise from movement on the balconies above or next to you will be noticeable if your neighbors move them around a lot by sliding. We've had quiet neighbors and noisy ones. And if your neighbors like to talk back and forth through the open sliding door then one of them is shouting all the time. We had that too. If it is a problem the first 2 nights I am inclined to slip an anonymous note under the door of the noisy neighbor politely mentioning how much noise it is. If that doesn't work, well, may need to rearrange my balcony at 3am.

I had not thought about trash coming down... well I will find out. Usually when underway the wind carries things aft and down. I have a cabin just 5 from the front hoping that keeps me safe from most of that and less cigarette smoke. Perhaps I should put a large cardboard box on my deck 8 extended balcony and letter it "Lost and Found for decks 9-14". Motion: Yes the front of the ship pitches. And in rough seas it pitches a lot. On deck 6-7-8 you can get sea spray from the bow. For people sensitive to movement I always advise against the front 1/4 of the ship.

Where would the cigarette smoke come from?

Balconies occupied by human trash that ignores the rules.

PelicanBill Posted September 26, 2017 #13 Share Posted September 26, 2017 I did an aft cabin on Breakaway in 2015. Won't do that again as the air drafts back onto the balconies, always swirling around so it only too a couple smokers to ruin it. On a side balcony at least the passing wind carries it away unless it's a nearby upwind neighbor. If I had a close neighbor that was consistent about it I would report it. weltek Posted September 26, 2017 #14 Share Posted September 26, 2017 We are going to enjoy one on the Escape in January. Excited about easy access to the Waterfront and District Brew House. This video is of the Escape's M6, but is super thorough!
rascaldog Posted September 26, 2017 #15 Share Posted September 26, 2017 I stayed in an M-6 on the Getaway, I think it was 8120 and really liked it. I had no problem with noise or motion. I loved the location being just steps from the Waterfront, and 1 floor up from the Casino. In fact I have one booked for the new ship the Bliss on the Mexican Riviera trip in Oct 2018. Can't wait for that one.
