Guaranteed Cabin booking

Is this a good idea? It seems it is the only choice I have on a particular cruise now that I know my work schedule. What type of experiences has anyone had booking this type of Cabin?

It really depends on the sailing and how many cabins are left and what type of cabin you are booking. Say you book an Inside guarantee on a pretty well sold out cruise; you'll likely get and keep that inside cabin. If what you are trying to do is gamble by booking an Inside Gty to get a free upgrade, you might be out of luck. However, if the question is about booking, say, a Balcony GTY and you really don't care WHERE your cabin is, then no worries. You will get a Balcony cabin.

We recently booked a guaranteed balcony cabin on the Sinfonia to Durban. It was a late booking and we are black members. We have now been upgraded to a suite, so it possibly depends on status and the demand for the lower price cabins.

If that’s all they have left in your category then there’s a decent chance for upgrade. I just did that with a Bella Balcony and ended up in a Fantastica Balcony.
