dateacher Posted October 25, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 25, 2017 So that I won't have to stress for 10 weeks about whether I will have a hotel in SJ, we changed our flight the day before to FLL and are taking an early morning flight to SJ. We arrive at 11:30 and it seems the best option is to go to Barrachina, have lunch, leave our bags and then go to the ship around 3. Any idea of the cost of a taxi to Barrachina from the airport and then to the ship (Celebrity)? Would also welcome any other ideas for the 3-4 hour period. Thanks. mollyeilis Posted October 25, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 25, 2017 Taxis in SJ are on a zone system for the most part. Google SJ taxi zone (or something like that) and you can see "airport to osj" zone then "osj to panamerican port" zone. dateacher Posted October 25, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted October 25, 2017 Why not go straight to the ship? We can't get on the ship until 3. We checked with Celebrity to see if we could leave our luggage and come back at 3 but they said no.

We also arrive around the same time. Why do you have to wait until 3 ? I usually board Celebrity at 11:30.
dateacher Posted October 26, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted October 26, 2017 The ship doesn't sail until 8:30PM. Because of the late sailing, the embarkation is delayed. Believe me, I always try to get to the ship as early as I can. I want to squeeze every minute out of my trip. If anyone has had the experience of getting on that early for a late sailing, let me know.

I have sailed out of San Juan several times and the ship sailed at 8:30 PM. Embarkation was never delayed. I boarded around 12:00 noon. My upcoming sailing my flight arrives at 12:40 and I will take a taxi straight to the ship.

I can’t speak for celebrity, but royal says that embarkation is at x time but many people go hours earlier than that.
Atocha Shipwreck Gal Posted October 29, 2017 #12 Share Posted October 29, 2017 Board the Summit as early as 10:30am. U cannot access your cabin until exactly at 1PM. Eat lunch early, leave ur bags in the cabin & take a taxi into town at 2PM and wander around for three hours bag free. Leave at 5PM as it gets dark. I do this every year!
