What is the options for renting a car near the port? What are some names of rental agencies near the port? Or is the airport our best option? Is so how much is the taxi cost to get to the airport? Thank you!

Cayman Auto Rentals is the only rental place anywhere near the port, but it's still a bit of a hike.

 

All the usual US chains are at the airport, plus Andy's (local company). Most have a shuttle to pick renters up at the port. Google your preferred chain and you should find their website easily.

I want to say $20 got us from the port to Budget at the airport. That was including tip. Can't guarantee that was what it was, as I have slept since then. But, it was around there somewhere. I do recall we asked for the price up front and were told before we committed to the trip. (Budget has a shuttle, but I was having phone issues, making the call to have to come get us difficult)

You probably already know this but just in case you don't - they drive on "left" side of the road.

You will need an international drivers license or you have to pay $20 for a temporary Cayman license.
