You most certainly cannot do all that Barcelona has to offer in one day.

And I’m with TNCruzer56, I spent 4 days not seeing enough of Rome and 7 hours seeing more than I needed of Barcelona. So it depends on your interests. I can see how Rome might soon bore if you had no interest in Roman ruins.

 

Thus I think itinerary choice could be based on which one gives you most time at your preference between Barca and Roma.
