planmaker Posted December 15, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 15, 2017 I know you don’t have to set up a sail and sign card with a credit card, but if you set it up with cash is there a minimum amount per person that you have to put in it? firemanbobswife Posted December 15, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 15, 2017 No, not really. Just be aware of what you're charging or it could get denied. Although they let my sister buy 2 BB packages on the ship before she put any money on her account, but her next purchase was declined. I do around $250 for me usually in the form of general cruise cash. Then I can add more if needed. It's usually not because I prepay as much as possible so it's just what I spend on alcohol (not much), casino, and whatnot.
doneinne Posted December 15, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 15, 2017 We put $20 each on our recent cruise. We each had a little over $20 in obc already. You can always add more later. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Markmom18 Posted December 15, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 15, 2017 Hi, When cruising without my husband, on my girls cruises, I use the Cash option. These cruises or 4-5 days. I buy CRUISE CASH $100 per day of the cruise. When I get onboard, I go to GS and give them $200 cash, just as a cushion, which I have yet to use on my cruises. This has worked out very nicely. I have received a refund check from Carnival of $200-$250 in the mail after my cruises. I use that money to book my next girls cruise! I also carry 1 credit card for emergencies. I no longer wish to charge my trips, then I'm stuck paying on them forever it seems! :D Bobbi
Markmom18 Posted December 15, 2017 #5 Share Posted December 15, 2017 Just looked up Cash Accounts at Carnival. They have RECOMMENDED dollar amounts. That must be where I got the idea to allow $100/day for the short cruises. Works for me. Note : I no longer drink alcohol, and am not big gambler. I always get cash back from whatever is left on my account on the last night of the cruise.
Markmom18 Posted December 16, 2017 #7 Share Posted December 16, 2017 I guess I'm just a thrill seeker!! ;). It's pretty neat-o to actually get a "check in the mail", since it doesn't happen to me otherwise LOL. FYI: I get them the first week I'm home. siestakeys04 Posted December 16, 2017 #8 Share Posted December 16, 2017 I may only put about 50 on ours we don’t buy to much on the ship. If we need more we just add it at the kiosk. Happy sailing!!
