Super Bowl Sunday

NW Pacific

Recommended Posts

We were on the Star last year for the final 4 in Basdketball. The ship shoed the finals in the spinnaker lounge and also in the casino and in one of the other bars on the ship. Also did basketball pools for the games in the casinos. We will be on the Star this year leaving LA when the game starts........Go Seahawks:)

Does anyone have experience with being on board NCL during Super Bowl? The Sun will be at their "private Island" on 020506, what are the chances that the game will be broadcast on board?

The IT people on the ship-at least on the Dawn-get the proper satellite feed and show all the big games.

Everyone is all worried until the game shows up-it's funny because there are no commercials and you can hear the commentators chatting amongst themselves during the breaktime.

I was on the dawn during superbowl in 2004. Just like denise says, you get a satelite feed with no commercials and the commentators keep talking off air. One of the interesting things to note, was that we had the international feed where the commentators were explaining basic footballs rules as well as doing color commentary. I suspect that was for markets that don't normally recieve NCL broadcasts... They had great beer specials, a pool where NCL took no rake which was arranged by the cruise director. They also were giving out free t-shirts if you bought buckets of beer.

Unfortunately...

I don't need to worry about the playoffs or Super Bowl this year:( However, the Sun did have the playoffs when we were onboard 3 years ago.

BUT- maybe we'll win on New Years Day!!!!!!!!! GO PACK:D

Hey Denise.. thanks for the heads up.. I know both of us are in countdown mode right about now. The only thing I regret about my upcoming vacation is we won't be traveling with you guys. Say hello to all of your family from Kristn and I as well as Happy Holidays.

Chris,

I'm still thinking about a surprise for you guys, as you'll be at GSC after we are-if I read the itineraries correctly.

You gonna have your laptop w/you to check email or the boards?

Have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy Cruisin' New Year!

Denise

We were on the Dawn about 3 years ago during the Superbowl and they couldn't get it on any of the ships TV's, something about the feed they received and the network the Superbowl was on. We were somewhere in the Southern Carribean.

It soulds like it may have gotten better over the years, good luck!!

That was the only Superbowl I missed in 15 years.

It all depends on where the ship is located, the satellite feed they have paid for and if any obstacles are in the way of the feed. i.e. Mountains! Almost 90% of ships can receive the correct feed, however there will always be a few in the fleet that cannot receive it.
