dulcemariamar Posted December 29, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 29, 2017 hello, I am looking to book a cruise for this summer. I have sailed with Princess Cruise Line last year and thought it was quite nice. My 4 year old loved the kids club. I was thinking about changing things up this year and trying Celebrity. So it is basically Regal Princess vs. Celebrity Eclipse or Constellation. We are just looking for good food and a nice kids club. Opinions? About what line is best between the the two. Rare Hlitner Posted December 29, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 29, 2017 We have cruised on both ships (more then once) and would have to say that each ship has their pros and cons when compared to the other ship :). There is no "best" as both ships (including any of the Celebrity Solstice Class or the Princess Royal Class) are "best" in many ways. Some folks would probably say that Princess has a slightly better kids program, both both lines have children's facilities and professional staff running the kids programs. Probably the most often heard complaint about the Regal Princess is the small size (depth) of their cabin balconies. Princess has also stuck with their 3 Main Dining Room design (like on their Grand Class) which differs from the gorgeous multi-level single MDR on the S-Class ships. Food on both lines is OK (neither is the best). Where Celebrity shines is with their alternative dining venues, but these all cost extra and most are not a great idea for a 4 year old. Rare Cruise Raider Posted December 29, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 29, 2017 Others will probably disagree with this but Celebrity doesn't attract a demographic with kids. Royal Caribbean, which is their parent company is very family oriented. Princess will have more attractions for kids but still not as many as you would see on RCCL, Carnival or Disney. Even the indoor pool on Celebrity has very limited hours in which kids are allowed. As far as ships ... the Eclipse is much newer than the Constellation. I love Celebrity ... it is by far my favorite line even though I have cruises way more often on Princess! However, if I had a 4 year old I was taking, I would opt for Princess if just those two cruiselines were in the running. In terms of food, I think you will find they are pretty much equal. Princess has better pizza but the buffet is better on Celebrity. The specialty restaurants on both are great but the one's on Princess are much cheaper. Actually, the onboard experience on Princess seems to be a little cheaper all the way around.
Can'tstopcruising Posted December 29, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 29, 2017 This summer, we will be taking our grandchildren, 5 and 7 on the Alaska Solstice sailing. I was told their kids' club is similar to that of Royal Carib. Also, on previous Celebrity cruises, I have spoken to parents of small children who told me their kids loved the kids' club. I think a lot depends on how good the counsellors are on any particular sailing.
