Beach within walking distance in Nassau?

On a budget with this cruise and just want to have to pay for 1 excursion, which will probably be in Freeport. Can we walk to a beach in Nassau?

Junkanroo Beach is walking distance. Just google it and wealth of information will come up. We were there last June. We rented chairs and did the drink package from the tiki hut guy - affordable and fun. Beach is okay and it was neat to watch the other ships leave port.

My wife and I walked to Junkanoo Beach last month, and took a taxi back to the ship.

 

It was pleasant. Not a great beach, not pristine but not trashed. The water was quite warm, especially for December.

 

We went early in the day, and the beach became increasingly crowded. Still not too bad even when we left.

 

Kind of fun to watch a big Carnival ship pull in, do a quick 180, and back into the dock. Don't see that every day!
