easyboy Posted December 30, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 30, 2017 You can also post on your Roll Call where you can share info with your fellow passengers Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare mom says Posted December 30, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 30, 2017 As easy boy pointed out, your roll call may be a good source of information for port stops on your sailing. They may have also started organizing some private excursions that you could join. Cruise Critic also has a Ports of Call forum, with separate subforums for each island. Look for it further down the main forum page. These should yield useful info on popular sights, beaches, and private tour companies, as well as local transportation options. We very rarely pay for ship excursions in the Caribbean, which tend towards slow, large groups and bloated prices Another good source is TripAdvisor. It will also have reviews of private tour companies.
John Bull Posted December 30, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 30, 2017 The Caribbean is the easiest place in the world to DIY, but do name your ports cos there's a few (eg Colon or Havana or Cozumel) where things are different. And different if you're planning "activities" rather than sight-seeing or beach. Answers by yours truly and others to similar questions on a recent thread at https://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2566148 RollCalls are a very American thing - sadly those for Brit ships are pretty-poorly subscribed, so don't get your hopes up.:( But the ports of call boards are very useful https://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=587 Celebration is a little old tub, but one of my favourites. Lacks the glitz of bigger & newer ships, but always a friendly ship - a village rather than a city. JB :)
cb at sea Posted December 31, 2017 #5 Share Posted December 31, 2017 Get a guidebook...see all there is in each port. It's true that the Caribbean is VERY easy to DIY! No real need to spend money on a guide!
