Mayan Ruin excursions worth it in Cozumel?

Looking to book an excursion in Cozumel and wondering if the 6 hour excursion is worth it? We are only at the port for 9hrs so the 6 hour excursion won't allow much time for anything else such as shopping, etc. while there.

Any suggestions?

To the ruins on the mainland? :confused: The Tulum tour is good and usually includes a short stop at a nearby beach, but you'll spend as much time (or more) getting there and getting back as you will seeing the ruins and on the beach - 45 minute ferry to the mainland, bus to the ruins/beach and reverse to get back.

 

If you want to see the Mayan ruins and will not be back in Mexico or other nearby ports then go for it; you will have time to shop on the pier before/after.

Which ruins? The ones in Cozumel are small, but we enjoyed them. Not as grand as on the mainland though. The ones on the mainland, Tulum or Chichen Itza take a long time, and it would probably be at least 8 hours. I was going to book one that said 6 hours, but when I looked at the travel time it was 6 hours in just travel time, so no way you'd be back to the ship in 6 hours.

The Mayan ruins on Cozumel are very small (and not exactly what we were expecting). They were nice, but if you are considering this, you should check out videos/pictures to ensure you know what you are getting for your money.

Went to Chechin Itza on our cruise and although it was a long day it was well worth it.

The Mayan Ruins on Cozumel island are not very good, most of the building are just rubble on the ground. I did Not enjoy it. The two Mayan Ruins are much better on the mainland however they are a lot further away. Tulum is on the Ocean.
