cruizinrican Posted February 7, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 7, 2018 Just got an email offering us the chance to upgrade our cabin with a bid. This is the first time I've ever received any type of offer from NCL and this will be my 9th cruise w this line. I bid on a balcony, if they take my offer, they charge my card. If they don't take my offer then I windup with what I paid for to begin with and I'm charged nothing extra. Either way I look at it, I win. I'm going on another cruise!!! Yay!! They have until 2 days before sailing to accept or decline is what it said. Anybody have any experience with this upgrade email and can she'd some more light on it for me? I'd love to hear from you. Weluv2cruise2gether Posted February 7, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 7, 2018 We were booked in an OV cabin for our October 2017 cruise on the Jade. We got the email to upgrade. We bid on a balcony and also a mini suite. A few weeks before embarkation day, we received an email telling us that NCL accepted our bid on the mini suite! So there still is hope our bid will be accepted too. I hope you enjoyed your mini-suite. We had one on the Epic and loved it. Thanks for sharing! pizzalady1 Posted February 7, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 7, 2018 No, the Upgrade Fairy was replaced with the NCL Accounts! Oops, I meant accountants.
Rare mking8288 Posted February 7, 2018 #7 Share Posted February 7, 2018 (edited) Upgrade is played for those who played "Deal or No Deal" and "The Price is Right" ... starting at the 80 days out "mark" and/or within 24 hours upon full payment for those booking last minute. It's then a waiting game up till 48 hours. If you don't bid, you get another email reminder in addition to the "prompt" whenever you logged into MyNCL account. If you rather not wait to find out the GTY assigned, calling to to pay for an upgrade at the going rate(s) remained an option. Beware of the rules - there's a long, ongoing thread on this.
