Formal Night On Independence 5 Night

How formal is formal? For example, roughly what percentage of guys do khaki's / button down or dress slacks / dress shirt / tie? I am sure there are extremes either way, but can I get by with one of the above options without looking out of place?

We can always hit Windjammer that night if we'd be out of place.

I am a corporate guy & travel for work but would prefer to not pack a suit (especially for just a few hours one night).

Just off IOS, Formal night was Night 2, and there was a wide array of dress that evening. We dined in the MDR and most men were in long slacks and button down or polo, some had ties and jackets. But, we saw many in dress shorts and polos, even some in jeans. Woman like myself, wore a sun dress , others wore slacks and dressy tops. A few had evening gowns, yet some in shorts. No big deal on this cruise, at least from my perspective. Enjoy yourself in whatever you feel comfortable.
