Freedom OTS is our first RC cruise. Scheduling on first night out of San Juan?

Hi. Is there a way to determine what would be best for our first night's dinner? We are doing our dining plan first night at 630 but I want to be sure it's not going to interfere with on board shows and entertainment. What time does everything get started on night 1?

You should be fine. Just check the schedule when you get onboard. If your dining conflicts, try to change it. I would not sweat it. We often skip the show on the first night as it is usually abbreviated and more a warm up than a full show.

I agree - the first night is some sort of "Welcome Aboard" show and it's no big deal to miss it. Also, on many ships (can't remember about Freedom), there is only one show the first night, as opposed to two most nights. Therefore, it's often crowded and it's a pain to find seats for a show that's simply not that good.

I very much enjoy the night time sailaway from San Juan. Love the lights of the harbor and the final sail past the lighted fort. I always time the first night so I can watch this.

I love that too but sail away is late and after dinner so no worries on that.

I guess I'm struggling too because we wanted dinner in San Juan (mofongo!) so we were going to skip dinner night 1. If we do the dining package, we have to use it night 1 or 2, right? I'm a first timer on RC so please correct me if I'm misunderstanding.

Second night is formal night and we wanted to eat in the MDR so we're stuck doing one of our specialty dinners on night 1.
