TrentS Posted December 23, 2005 #2 Share Posted December 23, 2005 These downtown Miami hotels are your best bet for the night before your cruise. Willbcruisin Posted December 24, 2005 #3 Share Posted December 24, 2005 Just back from Navigator of the Seas. Stayed at Marriott Biscayne Bay pre-cruise. It was just OK. Room was not very clean.....Very bad area of Miami. Great view of the port and Miami but would not stay there again. Actully could not wait to check-out. On our return I had the driver stop at Marriott South Beach. What a difference.... I should have kept my reservation there. More money but a beautiful area and looked at the rooms and they were spotless. I'm really not picky but for the price of Biscayne Bay I would have like to have had a clean room. I met people that stayed at the Holiday Inn at the port and they loved it. No complaints at all. Happy Holidays and Happy Cruising!
Bequia Posted December 24, 2005 #4 Share Posted December 24, 2005 Willbcruisin, did you bring your concerns about the hotel to front desk staff or the manager on duty? My experience any Marriott is if there's a problem they'll bend over backwards to please you. Tripadvisor (which I read with trepidation) does not reflect any of the concerns you have expressed which is unusual because everyone vents on TripAdvisor. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g34438-d85031-Reviews-Miami_Marriott_Biscayne_Bay-Miami_Florida.html I have stayed at this property half a dozen times and have never experienced a poor room or any problems with the surrounding area. joseywales Posted December 25, 2005 #5 Share Posted December 25, 2005 Theres a Fairfield Inn between the airport and the piers that were going to stay in this May. Its got good reviews on tripadvisor.com and expedia. Nothing fancy, but when you are getting in late and leaving early, who cares?
Willbcruisin Posted December 26, 2005 #6 Share Posted December 26, 2005 Hi... I did not have time as we arrived late and departed early. It was not major...I just thought after reading reviews on trip advisor and following the boards it was a good choice. Just my opinion. I stay at Marriott in Boston , rooms are alike but service and cleanliness could not compare. I looked at Marriott South Beach and rooms were spotless and much better area! Views were the best @ Biscayne Bay but location was a "bad" area as Trents had mentioned. It did not disrupt our vacation at all...I just thought I would post our experience with this property. HI does not get very good reviews but I spoke with many people that stayed there and they loved it. It's just personal preference! Happy Holidays! mohendry Posted December 26, 2005 #7 Share Posted December 26, 2005 Holiday Inn Bayside/Port of Miami (only for the budget minded)... http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/1/en/hd/miabb Why do you say "only for the budget minded"? Is this a dump? I ask because I made reservations there for one night post cruise? I thought I had read on this board somewhere that it was okay, that is clean, close to port, etc.

I know a couple of people who have stayed there recently and said it was a nice clean hotel.. great location.. Maybe since it is not $200 plus a night it is considered only cheap people will be staying there.. hey but you never know.. I myself am more concerned with spending my money on the cruise and excursions.. not 200 - 300 for a 1 night place to lay my head:rolleyes: As the old saying goes to each their own... The room was fine and the location directly across from Bayside was awesome. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Diane

I too have been in that hotel many times and while it's not 5-star the rooms I've been in have always been clean. You definitely have to let them know when things aren't as they should be! No, the neighborhood isn't the best, and you don't want to walk from that hotel anywhere - Always take a taxi from that one and you'll be fine, but the hotel itself is perfectly safe, and does have the best views of the Port of Miami. The location is great, and it's very popular with many on here, but it's not for those who are picky as it IS old and is far from the best Miami has to offer. It IS a budget hotel, it's a Holiday Inn, not a Ritz-Carlton!

You can get the same hotel room in Miami in September for $199 that is $599 in peak season.
