DannyS Posted December 27, 2005 #26 Share Posted December 27, 2005 With the amount of advertising with the Flowrider at the center, there's no way they'll charge for it. Could you imagine the backlash? (Not to mention the potential "false advertising" charges.) Realitically, how many people are going to use the Flowrider? It will be the same people who climb the rock wall, and probably work a similar way. There will be signup sheets, and you can pick your time and have at it for a set amount of time. If there are crowds, I could see them limiting people to 2 or 3 minutes per "ride." That would give you the ability to have 20-30 guests ride it per hour. When you figure that maybe 30% of the guests will use it, that's plenty of time for everyone to get a chance.

KelJ Posted December 27, 2005 #28 Share Posted December 27, 2005 Maybe it will be free to people who tip the rest of the staff. Way to go, Hurricane Sally. You took the words right out of my mouth!
mkringen Posted December 27, 2005 #29 Share Posted December 27, 2005 My question is how long will they have this flowrider open per day. I can see it just opening for a few select hours a day and then sitting idle. Michelle in SoCal
BuyReallyLow Posted December 27, 2005 #30 Share Posted December 27, 2005 And how many of their commercials show helicopter rides, swimming with sting rays, walking on a glacier and mention charges for all of those? Probably not a fair comparison but the Golf Simulator is not free... I think MadforCruising is on the right track.
TechKnowBabble Posted December 27, 2005 #31 Share Posted December 27, 2005 Are the million or so potholes included with it? <VENT ON> Let's not talk about potholes and ROAD CONSTRUCTION. Work on 83, 95, 695, Pulaski Highway, etc, etc, etc. Are roads ANYWHERE adequately maintained? </VENT OFF>
prairie_fox Posted December 27, 2005 #32 Share Posted December 27, 2005 So the golf on the Splendour of the Seas is free or at a charge??? We have not been on the larger ships of late and I had no clue if this was a fee or free thing.
Pearland Cruisers Posted December 27, 2005 #33 Share Posted December 27, 2005 Having been to Schlitterbahn where they have one of the surfing attractions, people don't tend to be able to surf very long. Not as easy as it might look! I would imagine that it will be "free"
TheWog Posted December 28, 2005 #34 Share Posted December 28, 2005 I am trying to picture the line for flowrider as people go on it..... ONE AT A TIME Let 2 or 3 people go at a time and that would be fun to watch. :D

The mini golf on the Splendour is free, or as some bean counters on here would say included.;)

TheWog Posted December 28, 2005 #38 Share Posted December 28, 2005 Now we're talking. I bet people would pay just to watch let alone "ride". RCI should look into this.:D
Ocean Boy Posted December 28, 2005 #39 Share Posted December 28, 2005 So far RCI's imaginative answer to "crowd control" seems to be charging an extra fee. So why do people question the cynics here? There is nothing like learning from your experiences in life. Fortuntely, I'm not one of the ones with an urgent need to jump on Freedom. I'll leave the break-in period to others and see what they have to say about the ship. Those Voyager sisters suite me just fine.
madforcruising Posted December 28, 2005 #40 Share Posted December 28, 2005 So far RCI's imaginative answer to "crowd control" seems to be charging an extra fee. As long as it works the only thing I can say "good Job RCCL, well done!"
Cruising89143 Posted December 28, 2005 #41 Share Posted December 28, 2005 I don't see RCI charging for Flowrider but I do see long lines or having to sign up for certain times. Right now I have no desire to sail on this ship as long as she is doing the western itinerary only.
kenandlaura06 Posted December 28, 2005 #42 Share Posted December 28, 2005 I for one have no interest in using it, but will definitely watch others on it--like my soon to be husband!
