Any reccomendations on what to do in /near/around the Port of Marseille, France?

We are arriving in port 9;00 am -6;00 pm early this April .

Does anyone have any reccomendations on what to do there? We do not like any of the Royal Carribean shore excursions/tours offered..

We prefer to find something different ,other than " just a tour".. Wether it be a cooking class, or wine tasting, or neat shopping, market,or quaint town or awesome restaurant , club, pub?

Anything exciting or different and worth while seeing/doing ?, as we've never been there before.

 

and transportation to get around there ?
