ponstad Posted March 7, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 7, 2018 We will be sailing late September on a 14-day adventure from New York to Quebec and back. Our itinerary lists stops in Rockland, Maine,Corner Brook NF, Sept-Iles, Quebec, Saguenay, Sydney, NS and Halifax. Are there any suggestions for sights or experiences not to be missed? Recommendations for guides/tour providers? We particularly enjoy neighborhood walking tours as well as birding excursions - any advice? In the past when we have traveled, there are times when we have missed scheduled stops due to weather, high seas, etc. For those who are familiar with these ports, do you think we can book independent excursions with some confidence that the stops will occur? Thank you. ponstad
JoyMouse Posted March 8, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 8, 2018 In Rockland, the Owls Head Transportation Museum was very good. We did a ship’s tour that included a stop at a lighthouse, but you may be able to get a taxi there. http://owlshead.org Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
maryann ns Posted March 8, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 8, 2018 For Sydney and Halifax check out these links: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1SHnC1bdaKtBLTr9bcJShb3a0escYZQKLWkZF4seT14I/edit https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BjAtDscML-9Ce3VWUUsOrsVhPL7KIxb7Go_9SRi82dE/edit For Sydney consider renting a car. For Halifax you can easily tour in the city on your own.
Grant2000 Posted March 17, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 17, 2018 We did a similar trip in the autumn and thoroughly enjoyed it! Quebec City is gorgeous and requires 2 or 3 full days to really take it in. The other towns are quite small so can easily be explored on foot. We enjoyed them all and didn't take any organised tours. https://cruiseports.ca/canada/quebec-city-cruise-port.html
