TomOG Posted March 27, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 27, 2018 My understanding is that formal night are usually nights 2 and 5? With sail away day being night #1(?) am I correct that the following night is usually the first formal night? We are trying to schedule a specialty restaurant reservation and don't want to conflict. Thanks

Thanks You don't specify which cruise you are taking and that makes a difference in when formal night will be. It will not be the first or last evening. It will be on a sea day if possible. An Alaskan cruise from LA or San Francisco will have more sea days than one from Vancouver.
EastBay Cruisers Posted March 27, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 27, 2018 We took a 7 day Alaska cruise from Seattle, back to Seattle last September, on the Emerald. The formal nights were on Day 2 and Day 6 because those were sea days. As a suggestion - check the itinerary of your Alaska cruise for the sea days. Formal nights are not night 1 or night 7, and they are most likely sea days. So, you could schedule your specialty dining for the first night, the last night, or a port day. - EBC

I'll be on an Alaskan Cruise that's a roundtrip from Seattle and our sea day is Day 2, and our Glacier Bay day is Day 5. Day 6 is technically a port day (Ketchikan), though we leave port by 1pm.
