zydecocruiser: thanks for photos, those are same type of shoes suggested for men in the family. Your photo is sort of oxymoron--sandals and sleeping bag and blanket? Where were you??

 

How sharp is Hell's gate? I've climbed a waterfall rock area in San Juan, but if anyone is klutzy in family it is always me.

 

Sandals and day pack and blanket on the deck of Grand Princess watching Batman Begins flick... Flip flops or anything not attached to your foot would not be a good thing.

Hell's Gate is a little sharp. e.g. If you bang your shin on something, it may shed a little blood, but certainly won't be gushing.

 

The real snorkel is after, but don't worry - no sharks!
