NHL playoffs shown on VISTA?

Curious if Vista is showing nhl playoffs in the sports bar?

I remember seeing what was on NBC, but I guess they don't carry that anymore? Wondering if the Kentucky Derby will be on for our upcoming cruise, but then again, it's on network tv.

The Sports Bar has network TV, Carnival chooses not to share it with their guests. We watched the Masters a few weeks ago. They were also showing NCAA B-Ball games

I spent a lot of time in the sports bar on my last cruise on 3/25/18. I asked the bartender about the network stations. He said the network stations are gone even in the sports bar. But they have international espn. Because it is international and not domestic espn they will air a lot of sports that would be on network channels in the states on the international espn. This was on the pride. I have been on the pride 7 times and the bartender has been there the last 5 times I cruise on the pride. He recognizes me the first time I go into the bar every cruise and we usually have very honest conversation about the ship during the cruise so I believe what he says. Actually on the pride the server that controls the sports bar has been down for months and he has been waiting for carnival to approve the repair and fix it. So what this means is that the tv’s behind the bar are stuck on a specific channel and he can’t control them. He can’t even turn them off all he can do is turn the volume up or down. One side of the bar the channels are stuck on espn international. And the other side they are stuck on espn 2 also international. During the week I was on we were able to watch on these 2 channels women’s final 4. NCAA elite 8 and final 4(final 4 also played outside). Golf and mlb opening day games. All these games were on network tv in the states but because they had international espn it was available to watch.

I just got off the Conquest today and there was "NO" NHL hockey shown in the Sports bar (or anywhere else on the ship) the entire week. They seemed to have a few ESPN channels but unfortunately they don't broadcast the NHL. They did seem to have NBA and MLB on just about every night.

Seriously, though on American based cruises they should be catering to the avg. American sports nut. I'll bet my wife had something to do with this, I just know it.....LoL.

Every Stanley Cup playoff game will air on either NBC, NBCSN (NBC sports network), CNBC, USA Network or NHL network. Some will air on Canadian networks and some regional sports networks. Since Carnival doesn't carry these stations, it seems unlikely you'll get to see NHL playoff games on Carnival ships. I've altered my cruising habits around sports seasons since Carnival cut their TV network coverage last year.

We sailed the Vista last June. We watched the Stanley Cup finals in the sports bar. One night we had to ask, but they had no problem accommodating our request. Not sure if it has changed since last June.

This is just not true. The network stations were definitely on in the Conquest sports bar. They had at least 3 different network venues playing at the same time. The Masters is exclusively on CBS and they have no connection to ESPN.

The sports bars have access to many satellite channels that aren't in staterooms. In January, it appeared to us that it was similar to pay-per-view. They're only paying to show it on one TV as opposed to paying to retransmit in thousands of cabins on dozens of ships.

I cruised around this time two years ago. They showed primarily NBA playoffs. Since both NHL and NBA do their playoffs at the same time and NBA is a bigger draw they will usually show that.They did show some NHL though. But as some have said they lost some networks so no clue now.

 

Sidenote, it was a cruise out of Baltimore. Not a lot of East coast teams in the nba playoffs that year with Boston just barely making the lower seed so maybe not a lot of interest, while I know boston made the nhl playoffs with as an actual good team. While I was watching the nba in the sports bar, every couple mins some people would come in and be like you guys showing hockey? Bartender would be like no, it's nba right now. Almost every time that person would answer with 'who even likes the nba'. I know if you're a hockey fan you are usuually a die hard but dang gotta realize your sport is 4th in the US so normally basketball will trump it.

hahaha. I usually like to just check on the scores and walk away from casino for a little while. i can simply check scores on line. I will simply DVR if my eam is still playing to watch when I get home.

Just a heads up: Be aware Carnival changed their channel availability late last year. What was experienced before that may not hold true today.

The person I quoted seemed quite insistent that the Masters wouldn't be shown on ESPN.

 

Based on a similar search to see if the NHL playoffs would be carried by ESPN International, I'm coming up empty.

Everything I said was true. Network channels are gone even in the sports bar. Espn international has full masters coverage in 53 countries. Don’t believe me here you go. Since you base everything off of you watching the masters in the sports bar here is the full broadcast rights to the masters. Pay attention to the last paragraph you might learn something![emoji23]
