Nieuw Amsterdam Verandah 5100

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone has info on, or experience with this particular cabin? It is directly by the elevators mid ship. Just curious about the noise and how obstructed the view is. I have done searches and cannot find any info. Thanks in advance.

The view downward won't be as blocked as other deck 5 balconies, as it looks down not on a lifeboat but mainly winches. You'd hear elevator bells faintly. We had 4094, just below it, and the only annoying noise came up the stairs from the band in the Ocean Bar. Very convenient location, with 6 elevators steps away and no more than 1/2 a ship length to anyplace. People on the glass elevator will be able to see part of your balcony, but they don't really look unless it is stopped on your floor.

These are the winches as seen from 4094: http://halfacts.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/eudm4094DSCN8516.jpg

We had cabin 5100 on the Oosterdam and enjoyed it very much. We did not notice any sound problems and the fact that it seems as if the cabin is open to those on the elevator, we never felt in comfortable about it. If you rode on the elevator, I am sure you would not interested in looking at "balconys". We often felt that the elevator was our personal one because it was right there when you needed it.

We were in 5146 last August, ... View from the balcony was excellent.
But that far back there are no lifeboats below the balconies to obstruct the view. I believe that's what OP was concerned about.
