cathstew161 Posted May 18, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 18, 2018 Hi, just wondering if anyone has stayed in (or even seen) the obstructed view cabins on deck 8 Pacific Jewel please? We have booked two of these cabins for September and I'm curious to whether the beds are under the window or horizontal on the side wall. Also whether there is any noise from the lifeboats or crew who attend to them? I think we're in 8114 and 8116. Thanks.
Gerko Posted May 18, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 18, 2018 Have stayed in numerous obstructed view cabins. Never had any issues with noise. If you happen to be beside one of the boats that's used as a tender there'll be a little noise as they raise and lower them but that's all done in daylight hours so is not really a bother. sweetp12 Posted May 19, 2018 #5 Share Posted May 19, 2018 We have stayed in 8103 and booked into 8101 next cruise, we always book obstructed view for the price (albeit that we also book accessible rooms). The bed is under the window unless you have as two singles. For us the location is great - it is not far away from the theatre and close to the central stairs. The muster station is in the casino so not far away at all. The tenders do block the view but if they are used at ports they will be dropped around 7am and you may hear a winch noise. Then you get a unobstructed view for a cheaper price! You still get a good amount of light and apart from when you are at port the only thing you can look at is the blue sea. It gets a bit boring after a while as it doesn't really change. On the plans it looks like your two cabins are at the end of the boats rather than in the middle - this will give you a bit better view. Have a fantastic cruise :)
cathstew161 Posted May 19, 2018 Author #6 Share Posted May 19, 2018 Thanks very much for your reply. The room across from us - 8115 I think was said to have the beds horizontal in the room so I wondered if our room was the same. Doesn't matter either way :-) We were stoked to get the obstructed view cabins for the same price as an interior. Very excited.
Belmont Babe Posted May 19, 2018 #7 Share Posted May 19, 2018 8114 and 8116 will have the bed heads on the side walls ( or horizontal) The six Ob view cabins designated as four berth have the bed heads on the outer wall ( window ) 8114 has one of the four best (least obstructed) views. The others are 8115, 8128 and 8129.

cathstew161 Posted June 2, 2018 Author #10 Share Posted June 2, 2018 Thanks so much for the pics. Looks great. I'm a little concerned that we're over the top of Connexions bar but I haven't seen anyone complain about the noise yet.

I'm a little concerned that we're over the top of Connexions bar but I haven't seen anyone complain about the noise yet. Yes, can anyone tell me if the noise does rise up from the Connexions bar. We are very light sleepers and don't stay up too late. Many thanks

sweetp12 Posted June 15, 2018 #13 Share Posted June 15, 2018 There has been a fridge the last two times I sailed on the jewel. Also in the email I received from P&O yesterday it lists the in room features and it outlines that there is a fridge.
Ondine Posted June 15, 2018 #14 Share Posted June 15, 2018 Been on the Jewel 6 times and always had a fridge in a cupboard just as you walk in the cabin. Believe all cabins have them. Perhaps people getting mixed up with the Eden/Aria which only have fridges in balcony and mini suites. None in oceanview or insides.
cathstew161 Posted June 15, 2018 Author #15 Share Posted June 15, 2018 Ok thanks for that. It seems strange that all ocean view cabins on the Jewel have a fridge listed on their description except the OV obstructed view cabins. Which I thought was weird. If in doubt just phone P&O - they are very helpful. Here is a link off this website and it states that ALL rooms on Pacific Jewel have a fridge. https://www.cruisecritic.com.au/reviews/review.cfm?ShipID=595&pgtype=cabins We just looked at these rooms this morning (before we disembarked) because my daughter has one booked for next month. They looked pretty good and were quite roomy.
cathstew161 Posted June 18, 2018 Author #17 Share Posted June 18, 2018 Thanks for the reply. I've found that the Cruise Critic site has more information than P&O's own website! I have been told the wrong information 3 separate times now by P&O customer care staff. It's a little frustrating. It looks as though we have a fridge even though it's not listed in our amenities :-)

Every room does have a cupboard that separates the dressing room area from the bedroom and there is a small fridge inside. Now I wish I'd opened that cupboard this morning to check but as it was we were sneaking about after most people had disembarked :)
