Wayfairers Posted June 5, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 5, 2018 I am going to post here and on the South America thread too. Has anyone been on this excursion? What did you like or dislike? Did you have enough free time to see Santa Catalina Convent on your own? Sent from my iPad using Forums
Lunenburg Posted June 6, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 6, 2018 We were on a land tour in Arequipa and loved it. We went to a huge market selling everything imaginable including weird health remedies snd also visited the cathedral and the Santa Catalina Monastery. It is definitely worth a visit of at least an hour or so. A guide explained the background of the women who moved there, most very wealthy.. They would have servants and some taught classes, it sounded quite a nice life and there are still some nuns living there. Not sure what your tour includes but it is a nice city. Wayfairers Posted June 7, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted June 7, 2018 Thanks for the reply. We are going on a land tour in a couple of years and plan to spend time in Arequipa, seeing Colca Canyon and the surrounding area so may skip it this cruise. Trying to gather info tdecide what we want to do. Good to know approximately how much time is needed at the cathedral and that it is worth a visit.
