TheTwoWinnys Posted June 20, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 20, 2018 Hey All heading on the beautiful Celebrity Constellation on Saturday. Cruised out of Rome before but has been a while since we last did it. Does anyone have an easy step by step guide that's fool proof for getting the train from airport to cruise port. Heading their a day early anyway. Done the train before but like I say been a few years. Any help appreciated. Thanks all :D

Rare Hlitner Posted June 20, 2018 #3 Share Posted June 20, 2018 Flipflap posted a great link :). Those links show you the regional trains where you will need to change at Trastervere. Make sure to avoid the more expensive Leonardo Express (at FCO) which will take you directly to Rome's Termini for more money. Changing at Termini can involve a very long walk and it actually takes longer then using the cheaper regional trains and doing the change at Trastevere. Also be cognizant that you must be able to easily handle (and protect) all of our luggage. When you arrive at Civitavecchia this will usually mean you have to carry all your luggage down a long flight of steep steps, walk through the tunnel and then back up another set of steps. There is no elevator and no porter help. So if you cannot handle this...consider using a vehicle transfer from FCO to the Port. Hank

SFCAcruiser Posted June 20, 2018 #5 Share Posted June 20, 2018 Hlitner provided great advice, as usual. I had an additional thought, since you report that it has been a few years since you last cruised from this port. In case you are not aware, the port bus no longer picks up passengers at the “Michelangelo Gate”area. This former pick-up spot was quite convenient to the train station (~10 min walk). You may already know about the newer pick-up location, but just in case.....
