I requested Anytime...Will I not be seated with others if I have anytime dining?

With "Anytime", you can request a table for yourself, or a table with others. By requesting fixed seating, you'll get to sit with, and meet the same folks all cruise long, and as noted, the Maitre'd will usually seat you with other SOLO cruisers. If he doesn't, you can request that. I've just met so many fantastic folks at the dinner table, and taken various tours, attended shows, and had a great time with the people from my dinner table.

Who is a solo but married cruiser and what does your spouse think of it?

My spouse is a workaholic and I’m starting to think of some solo cruises in my future. He would probably be ok with up to 7 days, but like a r positioning 14 day.. maybe not so much.

My lovely and talented wife has a small business, and we've vacationed/cruised separately for many years because of that. Works for us. When we do cruise together, she goes directly to the casino, and I attend the shows, and entertainment, so we only meet at dinner anyway. LOL

Thanks. Only late dining is available. There's a waiting list for early dining. I think I may switch over anyway. :)

Late seating is more likely to have more singles since families with kids generally eat early.

My husband isn't able to go on excursions. I would like to on a beach excursion but hesitate due to being "solo" for that. Any ideas how to hook up with some others for that reason? Will be on Sept 30 liberty out of Galveston. Are there others who do excursions solo?

This thread is so inspiring. My hat is off to those who travel solo. My husband and I were on a plane to Miami for a cruise and were seated next to a young man. After a bit of chatter, we discovered he was on his way to the same ship as we were and he was solo(his first ever cruise). We saw him many times on the ship and each time asked him how it was going. He was having the time of his life!! We both admired him in so many ways. He could have been our son(age difference between us). Cruise on my friends!

I’ve done excursions solos and they are totally fine. I don’t mind it at all. Everybody is friendly and chatty.

DH was cool with it so if something looks good in a few months, I’m good to go.

Even though I've never done a solo cruise, I have taken solo excursions. ATV riding, Horseback riding, Jet Skiing...I had a blast.

Sorry to threadjack—should I start a new post?

This girl right here! 36 y/o female, married 10 years with 2 kids. Every year we each do our own trip in the spring and then we all vacation together as a family over the summer while the kids are off from school.

My husband does not care for boats, water, heat, or sand. He prefers to spend his vacation camping and fishing in the mountains or golfing with his friends whereas I start to feel bereft after too long away from that gorgeous Caribbean blue. I'm also an introvert and need time away from people to recharge. My solution for the last 5 years or so has been to take a cruise by myself. He's cool with it and understands why I need to be alone. Sometimes I feel social and will meet people at dinner or one of the bars. Other times I avoid the public places, rest, and catch some ocean breezes. Sometimes I do excursions, sometimes I just explore the ports, other times I don't get off the ship at all (especially places I've been several times before such as Nassau).

What I love most about solo cruising is that I can do whatever I want, whenever I want. I can make plans and then change my mind without consulting anyone. I can stay up too late reading a book, sleep till noon, and eat food cooked by someone other than myself (or my husband who, bless him, isn't the best cook). I don't worry about baths or schedules or packing lunches. I don't worry about anything, and that's what makes it a truly relaxing vacation!

I'm addicted :p
