RetroRod Posted July 6, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2018 We are booked on the HL cruise Stockholm to Bergen in June 2019. Currently, I and my TA agrees, we can probably get better airfares and possibly flight times if we do not use Viking Air. However, we would not be able to get the Viking transfers. Has anyone done a transfer on your own from the ship in the Bergen port (Skolten?) to the Bergen Airport (BGO - Flesland)? If so, how easy/hard was it to arrange and what company did you use? Any help is appreciated.
aquidneck1 Posted July 6, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 6, 2018 We took the Airport Bus from the Radisson which is about 1/3-1/2 mile from the Port. We walked and paid on board with a CC. There were cabs around the port as well but the bus was great. I suppose it depends on your luggage status. You could take a cab to the Radisson or the Central Bus station to get the bus if you preferred. Sorry - cannot recommend a private transfer. Luv2Cruise1016 Posted July 6, 2018 #3 Share Posted July 6, 2018 if I'm not mistaken, you can purchase transfer from ship to airport from Viking independently even if you air not use Viking air. That's my understanding as I have similar situation. $49pp is what I was quoted.
magic111 Posted July 6, 2018 #4 Share Posted July 6, 2018 You can purchase just the transfer from Viking. The bus is cheaper at about $12pp vs $49pp. Bus takes credit cards, starts at 4am, and runs every 15 minutes. Radisson Blu Royal is the first stop. Manceor Posted July 7, 2018 #5 Share Posted July 7, 2018 If you had a flight at 6:30 am what time would you recommend catching the bus? How long is the ride?
magic111 Posted July 7, 2018 #6 Share Posted July 7, 2018 FYI from their site: Bergen Airport Bus is the best way to get to the center of Bergen, with its frequent airport bus service. To the airport: leaving from Radisson Blu Royal Hotel at Bryggen, via Bergen Fish Market, Radisson Blu Hotel Norge and the bus station to the airport and return (the same route). Approx. 25 minutes bus ride at off-peak hours, up to 45 minutes at peak hours. For departure times, inquire the airlines or at the Tourist Information (roughly: departs three times per hour, less frequently on weekends). Please note that the bus may use some time in the very center of Bergen to pick up passengers, especially at peak hours. Expect to add 20 minutes in the very center of Bergen at peak hours, counting from the starting point at Bryggen. First and last airport bus departure First departure at week days is around 4am from the center of Bergen to the airport and the last airport bus from the airport to the center of Bergen departs around 15-20 minutes after the last flight landing. This is information per April 2015. For more information and updated information please inquire at the airlines, your hotel or at the tourist information office at Bergen airport Flesland or in the city center. Or, google "flybussen bergen"
aquidneck1 Posted July 7, 2018 #7 Share Posted July 7, 2018 At that hour, I would probably have Viking arrange a cab. I would doubt that their transfers start at 4 AM but I would be wrong. The staff on the ship are really helpful.
magic111 Posted July 7, 2018 #8 Share Posted July 7, 2018 Take a look at the website bergen-guide.com It covers transportation to the city center. Under the 'All you want to know about Flesland airport' section, the cost of taxis is detailed. There is a premium price for taxis before 6:00 am. However, even at 600 NOK (about $50 USD), a taxi is half of a Viking transfer for two people assuming the website is kept current as to prices. So, for a little more than the bus you would not need to lug your bags to the bus stop.
Teah Posted July 7, 2018 #9 Share Posted July 7, 2018 Just finished this cruise on June 12. We also found much better prices on our own, but we did pay the $49pp transfer to the airport. We were the 2nd group to leave at 3:30 am. Would do it again. Loved the cruise and so enjoyed ending in Bergen
