Other than on formal night, is there a dress code for the main dining room on EOS?

What are the dress codes onboard?

There are three distinct types of evenings onboard: casual, smart casual and formal. Suggested guidelines for these nights are:

 

Casual: Sport shirts and slacks for men, sundresses or pants for women

Smart Casual: Jackets and ties for men, dresses or pantsuits for women

Formal: Suits and ties or tuxedos for men, cocktail dresses for women

 

3 to 4-night cruises include one formal night and the remainder are casual nights.

5 – night cruises include one formal and the remainder casual nights.

6 – night cruises include two formal nights, one smart casual and the remainder are casual nights .

7 to 9-night cruises include two formal nights, one smart casual night and the remainder nights are casual nights.

10 to13-night cruises include two formal nights and two smart casual nights, and the remainder are casual nights.

14+ -night cruises include three formal nights and four smart casual nights and the remainder are casual nights.

There's more than one "E" in the fleet - which one is yours? And how long is your cruise? Ohunion has reproduced the information from RC's website, but the actual on-board experience can vary greatly from this expectation.

So it's a four or a five day cruise? These tend to be somewhat less formal. The people on board tend more towards the "let's relax and forget dressing up" types. That doesn't mean that formal night is ignored. Most people dress up very nicely for formal night. But the other three or four nights will not require a jacket or a tie on the gentleman's part, and anything from nice slacks to a simple skirt and blouse to a nice dress will work for the lady.

 

You will even see (EEK!!!) nice jeans in the dining room. You'll probably even see a t-shirt or two.

Despite the "expectations" listed on the RCI web site, about the only thing not allowed in the dining room are swimwear, shorts and muscle shirts. Otherwise your likely to see just about anything else.

 

For the most part you'll see dockers or slacks on the men with collared shirts (lots of polo shirts) and slacks, pants suites or casual dresses for the ladies. On smart casual nights, if you cruise has them (some seem to have done away with smart casual), you're likely to see everything from what's typical on casual nights to sport coats or suits for the men.

 

Formal night you will generally see tuxes and suits for the men with a few sport coats and slacks in there and several very nice evening gowns for the ladies.

 

Ohunion cruiser loves to post the RCI web site "rules" but, pretty much everyone on these forums knows that those expectations are rarely followed in practice onboard the ships.

WHAT SHOULD I PACK?

 

Days on board are casual, and you’ll be most comfortable in sports clothes and resort wear. Shoes should be low healed for deck activities. Bring a few swimsuits (so you’ll always have a dry one).

Ashore, you’ll need comfortable walking shoes. For evening wear, count on three basic types of attire.

Casual: sundresses or slacks and blouses for women; sport shirts and trousers for men.

Smart Casual: dresses or pantsuits for women; jackets for men.

Formal: Cocktail dresses for women; suits and ties or tuxedos for men.

If you’re cruising to the Caribbean, Mexico or other warm weather destinations, bring a hat for protection from the sun. If your cruise vacation will take you to Alaska, Canada/New England or Northern Europe, be sure to pack a jacket and several sweaters. We recommend that you hand-carry all travel documents, medications and any personal items that will meet your needs until your luggage is delivered to your stateroom. Luggage delivery aboard may take a few hours.

The following will help you plan your evening attire onboard the ship:
