SPECIFIC Ruins restaurant questions

1. How fancy is it? Is typical resort wear (docker type shorts and shirts) okay?

2. How expensive is it approximately in US dollars?

3. I read on one thread that described it as "Jamaican Chinese". any idea what the heck this means?

Casual wear is acceptable...it is a very casual atmosphere.

 

Two years ago the cost was about $15 pp which included lunch buffet and drinks. There was a group of three or four "older" musicians playing local music while you dined...don't miss walking around the grounds.

 

The proprietor is Larry...a first or second generation chinese fellow who is very pleasant.

 

Other than eating, having a few drinks, & walking around there isn't much to do...but we thoroughly enjoyed spending a couple of hours sitting under the banyan trees in the outdoor dining area.

That is correct. Our luncheon was included in our tour organized with Belinda of a-zjamaicaplanners. The patio style restaurant is so cool and relaxing. They often get groups, so try to arrive early. Food is fine. Surroundings are lovely.

I would suggest the Almond Tree resturant at Hibuscus Lodge as a very good alternative to the Ruins (short taxi ride from the ship - too far to walk.)

Is the Almond Tree near Montego bay or Ochio Rios? Next, we will port at MO Bay. I am looking for a nice place for lunch.
