Aix on Your Own Ship Excursion

Posted this on the Marseills Board but meant to post it here. Has anyone taken this ship excursion? If so, are you really on your own other than the transportation or is there some sort of tour involved (the notes talk about standing and steps at the cathedral but I;m not sure if that is part of the tour or only if you do it on your own when there).

 

It shows its a 6 hour trip, do you know how long the drive is each way to figure out how long you actually have to walk around Aix?

We did this tour in May. Yes, you are really on your own. There is a walking tour through the local tourism office but it is not a part of RC. The bus drive is about 45 min each way.

Thanks for the response. Is there enough to do in the area to fill the time you’re there if you just like to walk around, look at architecture, shop and eat? The family is not into going into churches and museums.

We split our time between Camps des Milles, a WWII internment camp (a very moving experience), and shopping/dining. I think you’ll be fine filling your time, keeping in mind it will not be the same as Barcelona, Rome, or Florence.

We lived Aix! It’s so quintessential French village! Wander all over exploring, tour the cathedral, shop in the stores, and eat lunch at a cafe, and you’ll fill your time.

No. We took a taxi there and an Uber back. It is about a 15-20 minute car ride.
