dleem63 Posted August 21, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 21, 2018 Never been to Bermuda. Coming in on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018. Looking to get 1 day transport pass and take Ferry to Hamilton and walk around see some sights, take Bus Route 7 and get off at Warwick Long Bay to see beach. May walk to Horseshoe Bay and get bus there. If we get the bus will the drop us anywhere? or only at designated spots? I would like to get off and walk up to Gibbs Lighthouse to see it. Is it a far walk from the bus stop? Then would come back and take bus back to Dockyard and spend time looking around. Live in Florida so don't need a lot of beach time. Thank everyone for your advice.
blueridgemama Posted August 21, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 21, 2018 Your plan sounds good to me. The #7 bus from Hamilton will take you along the stretch of the scenic South Shore beaches. There are stops at Warwick Long Bay, Horseshoe Bay and The Gibbs Lighthouse. When you get on the bus address the bus driver politely with a " Good morning" or " Good Afternoon" and politely ask him to let you know when you reach your destination. They do not stop if there is no one waiting at the bus stop. The walk to the lighthouse is not far but is uphill. There is a restaurant at the lighthouse, The Dining Room, which would be a nice spot for lunch or dinner. There is also a gift shop and the view and sunset are beautiful. Just as a FYI, there is a #7 bus that does not go all the way back to the dockyard but only to Barnes Corner, so when you get on the bus ask the driver if his bus goes to the dockyard. We are in Bermuda now resting up up from a busy day😊 We went to the lighthouse yesterday. The bus stops at Lighthouse Road and the walk to the lighthouse is approximately 500 yards uphill but is not super steep. There are 186 spiral steps to the top but there are places where you can stop every 20-30 steps. The view is beautiful.
craftycruiser27 Posted August 26, 2018 #5 Share Posted August 26, 2018 Just returned from Bermuda and the bus driver was happily informing everyone about Bermuda. He said it is the highest point on the island. Great views.
